Ingleton Wood, a leading multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy, is thrilled to have won the Constructing Excellence Award for Integration and Collaborative Working during this year's COCCEC ceremony.
The COCCEC Awards celebrate excellence in the construction industry across the Cambridge Oxford corridor and acknowledge the exceptional contributions of organisations driving forward best practices.
This coveted award recognises the effectiveness of our collaboration and the integrated services we delivered for a community healthcare refurbishment project based in Over, Cambridgeshire.
The winning project: Doctors surgery refurbishment & extension, Over, Cambridgeshire
First proposed in 2019, the project scope included 80sqm of extension works and 60sqm of internal refurbishment of an existing doctor's surgery to create:
- three new clinical spaces
- a new admin zone
- an improved waiting area
- new patient fully accessible WC space
- a new vehicle entrance
- parking to improve patient safety
As part of the redevelopment works, the existing spaces received acoustic and fire upgrades to increase the building's fire safety measures, improve patient privacy, and enhance the staff environment.
Funded through a combination of contributions from the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and section 106 funds from local developments, with the remaining funds raised by the surgery itself, the project was originally conceived in response to a demand for local healthcare services from an increasing resident population.
The project utilises the structure's traditional brick construction while modernising existing clinical spaces - enabling future provision and flexibility of healthcare services in the local area. The extension is designed to be a modern addition incorporating vertical timber cladding, and a roofline blending into the existing infrastructure to complement the existing and new architectural styles.
Delivered through a traditional tender process and a JCT traditional contract, all parties involved were supportive of the scheme and keen to see its impact.
Throughout the project's duration, the client, contractors, and Ingleton Wood worked collaboratively together and adopted an open-book, no-blame culture. This approach saw all parties embrace a proactive mentality and an ethos of cooperation towards a shared goal.
This collective mindset has resulted in delivering a completed scheme for the Over Surgery, that serves the local community with new modern healthcare facilities and provides a space for student GPs and nurses to train and develop.
Anni Folan-White, Partner at Ingleton Wood’s Cambridge office, expressed her gratitude for the recognition:
