Ingleton Wood were appointed by Essex County Fire & Rescue Service to manage the design, supply and installation of solar photovoltaic systems on 37 fire stations across their portfolio, with the objective to reduce their burden on purchased electricity and their carbon footprint.
A multi-disciplinary service was provided with input provided by our Building Surveying, Electrical Engineering and Environmental Teams. The feasibility stage of the project included building surveys, structural surveys and the preparation of sun-path diagrams and preliminary designs.
Ingleton Wood managed the procurement process including PQQ and competitive tender based on a performance specification and drawings. Scope of works also included associated building, roof access, electrical, fire alarm and lightning protection works.
The project was delivered over a 5-month period.
The installed system has the potential to produce half a Megawatt of electrical generation and will provide a carbon reduction of over 200 tonnes.
