Our staff at the London office recently took part in their latest team building event, aptly named ‘Taken’ which involved one of London office Partners, Andrew Shepherd being ‘taken’ whilst the rest of the office attempted to beat the clock by completing tasks to rescue him!
Staff congregated at their base, The Counting House at Cornhill and were split into three teams in order to complete three timed tasks, with the team completing them in the fastest time and to locate Andrew first winning a bottle of Champagne.
The first task involved teams meeting ‘an informant’ and paying him (Monopoly money of course!) in return for information to assist their enquiries to locate Andrew. The cloak and dagger meeting was arranged at a City pub where the team quizzed the informant to help them in their search. Further to his departure, a couple of the more inquisitive members of one particular team went ‘undercover’ and followed the informant for a short while to see if this would yield any further clues, unfortunately this just lead to a dead end!
The second task involved teams returning back to base to sift through a bag of rubbish containing key pieces of evidence and using police techniques such as dusting for fingerprints and DNA testing, their findings included such items as a business card stained with blood and various receipts linked to Andrew's wherabouts.
For the third task, teams were to carry out a money drop off at The Bank of England building, with another team being instructed to leave the ransom under a bench. Later, they were met by another informant who passed over a mystery package containing a mobile phone, to be used in order to receive further instructions.
Finally all three teams returned back to base for a final debrief to work through all the clues they had picked up along the way. All three teams solved the mystery almost simultaneously and a race en masse ensued to the final destination to rescue Andrew.
Well done to the winning team (and seemingly the fittest team) consisting of Carol, Rimesh, Adrian, Deevia, Andrew, Suzanne, Trevor, Niall and Richard, who were first to reach a safe and sound Andrew!
