Ingleton Wood is proud to have contributed mechanical and electrical engineering services (M&E) to the successful completion of a major refurbishment project at the Thetford Healthy Living Centre, Norfolk.
Originally commissioned by Norlife and executed in collaboration with Chaplin Farrant, Gipping Construction, and Canham Consulting, this £2.8 million project has transformed the first-floor admin area into a modern clinical space, significantly improving healthcare efficiency and accessibility in the region.
Project overview
The refurbishment project involved a comprehensive overhaul of the first-floor administrative area, converting it into a state-of-the-art clinical space.
The new facility now includes 13 consultation rooms, multi-purpose utility rooms, a reception area, and a comfortable waiting area. A new air-source heat pump was installed to improve the energy efficiency of the building and reduce its carbon footprint.
Additionally, the project features an extension to the car park and now includes an EV charging point. A new external lift was also installed, enhancing accessibility for all patients and staff.
Enhanced healthcare services
The newly created clinical space is designed to provide a more functional and user-friendly environment, allowing patients to access a wide range of health and care services in a central location.
This strategic improvement is expected to reduce waiting times for appointments and streamline healthcare delivery, benefiting the entire community.
Collaboration and success
Ingleton Wood’s collaboration with Norlife, Gipping Construction, and Canham Consulting was integral to the project’s success. The seamless teamwork and shared vision among all parties ensured that the project was completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget.

Highlighting the significance of this project, Lord Markham, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Health and Social Care, visited the Thetford Healthy Living Centre upon its official launch. During his tour, he praised the facility’s enhancements, which were made possible through a substantial £2.8 million NHS capital investment fund.
